Maybe its just me, and maybe its the fact that OTA HD content in Canada is not the norm and that in order to watch any real TV, you absolutely need an external tuner box. I just don't see the point in a TV these days being any more than just a screen, and perhaps a set of speakers (although if you're buying a 50" LCD TV and don't have a proper audio setup, then there's something wrong with you).
My 50" Sony is used purely as a monitor with multiple video inputs. Why does anyone need or want WiFi built into their TV? Sell me a $300 box that attaches to my $4000 TV (Apple TV anybody?) that I can toss in the trash and upgrade as technology changes. The mechanism of delivery of content to your display will change much more rapidly and frequently than the display itself - why bundle them together?
I'd summise the tuners built into the majority of high-end HD TV's go largely unused.
